City crews respond to minor sewage spill

SAVANNAH (March 1) – City of Savannah Sewer Conveyance staff responded to a minor sewage spill on March 1 at 102 Sheftall Cove.

The spill resulted from a force main break on Lift Station #103, Sheftall Landings Discharge Main. An estimated 310 gallons spilled before the break was repaired. State Environmental Protection Division guidelines classify this as a minor spill, which is a spill under 10,000 gallons.

The City is distributing spill notifications via a news release and area signage. All agencies (Georgia Environmental Protection Division, Health Department and the City of Savannah Office of Marketing and Communications) were notified per state guidelines.
