City to celebrate improvements made at Blackshear Park

SAVANNAH (Feb. 28) -- The City of Savannah will host a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of improvements at Blackshear Park on Friday, March 3, at 3:30 p.m. Improvements included restoration of the basketball courts, along with renewal work on fixtures, playground equipment and the picnic structure.

This work was completed as part of the City’s Recreation Reimagined initiative.

Following the ribbon cutting, Recreation & Leisure Services staff will lead mini games on the restored courts with area youth, while Savannah Police and Savannah Fire face-off on one of the six courts.

Media outlets are asked to RSVP by Thursday, March 2 at noon.
