New Spotlight program offers on stage opportunities for local nonprofits
SAVANNAH (April 19) – Applications are now open for the Spotlight Facility Use Program at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center. The new initiative from the City of Savannah offers reduced or free performance rental rates for a range of program formats, including theatre productions, musical ensembles, dance performances, literary programs, and culturally based projects.
Spotlight provides a subsidy for nonprofit organizations to purchase rental space at a free or discounted rate from the Savannah Cultural Arts Center on select dates throughout the year. Subsidy amounts are based on an organization’s operating budget. Organizations will receive rental space along with audio/visual technical and administrative support staff.
Interested groups are encouraged to join the Cultural Resources department for an information session on Thursday, April 21 at noon. The session will be held in person at 201 Montgomery St. and virtually.
“The Savannah Cultural Arts Center, which opened in April 2019, is a gem of a facility. With this program, we look forward to creating more opportunities for our local arts community and organizations to take advantage of our state-of-the-art performance spaces by bringing their own talents to our stage” said Stuart Miller, director of Cultural Resources.
Four weekends are available in the second half of 2022:
Thursday, Aug. 25 – Saturday, Aug. 27
Thursday, Sept. 29 – Saturday, Oct. 1
Thursday, Oct. 20 – Saturday, Oct. 22
