New Apparatus Added to Savannah Fire Fleet
SAVANNAH, GA (Thursday, July 18, 2019) – Savannah Fire Rescue is adding three new vehicles to its fleet. Two new Sutphen Pumper Trucks will replace the old apparatus at Station 8 and Station 9, and a new Sutphen Ladder Truck will replace the old ladder truck at Station 1.
The vehicles were purchased as part of the City of Savannah’s vehicle replacement plan, which cycles out vehicles every 15 years. The fully equipped pumper trucks cost about $650,000 each. The cost of the fully equipped ladder truck was approximately $1.4 million. Savannah Fire Rescue will place the old apparatus on reserve status and use them as back-up when regular service vehicles undergo maintenance. Firefighters are testing the new vehicles this week to ensure all systems are working properly. They will be placed in regular service during the week of July 8.
