Filming to Affect Downtown Traffic Tomorrow Through Saturday


SAVANNAH, GA (October 15, 2018) —Several roads will be closed and downtown traffic will be impacted beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, October 16 to accommodate movie filming.

Whitaker Street from Charlton Street to Taylor Street will be affected beginning at 10 a..m. tomorrow until noon on Saturday, October 20. Charlton and Taylor streets will remain open. The detour for the Whitaker Street closure will be MLK, Jr. Boulevard. To avoid congestion, traffic engineers encourage motorists to use Price Street and the Truman Parkway to exit downtown.


Tuesday,October 16 

  • Closed from 10 a.m. to Noon.
  • Closed intermittently from Noon to 7 p.m.
  • Closed from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, October 17.


Wednesday, October 17

  • Closed intermittently from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Closed from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. on Thursday, October 18


Thursday, October 18

  • Closed intermittently from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday, October 19


Friday, October 19

  • Closed intermittently from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Closed from 7 p.m. to midnight


Saturday, October 20

  • Closed from midnight to noon


Jones Street will also be closed from Jefferson Street to Drayton Street from Tuesday, October 16 at 10 a.m. until Saturday, October 20 at noon. Motorists driving on Tattnall Street, Barnard Street and Bull Street will not be able to cross Jones Street during this time.


ADDITIONAL INFO:

  • Pedestrians will be able to cross the closed roads intermittently.
  • The movie production company has distributed flyers and has been working with residents and businesses in the area to assist with parking and any other special needs. The production company is also placing flyers on all vehicles parked in the Whitaker Street Parking Garage.
  • The road closures will be posted on the free WAZE app accessible on all mobile devices.
