NEWS RELEASE

January 16, 2018

For Immediate Release

SAVANNAH, GA (January 18, 2018) — The City of Savannah Mayor and Council approved an amendment to the horse-drawn carriage ordinance to include a section which prohibits operation during adverse cold weather.

Adverse weather is defined as: periods when it is snowing, sleeting or during the fall of freezing rain, when the temperature is below 35 degrees, and conditions which are a threat to the health or safety of the horse and the public.

If these conditions are to occur, the ordinance instructs the custodian of the horse to return to the stable by the most direct route as practicable
