FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: October 25, 2016
The City of Savannah’s Community Planning and Development Department is beginning development of an Assessment of Fair Housing that will identify patterns of integration and segregation; racially and ethnically concentrated areas of poverty; disparities in access to opportunity; and disproportionate housing needs.
Based on the findings of this research, the Assessment of Fair Housing will propose fair and affordable housing strategies to overcome the identified fair housing barriers. The Assessment is a condition of the City’s receipt of HUD grant funds under the Community Development Block Grant program.
The assessment process will incorporate the opinions and perceptions of local residents, whose input is solicited both through community workshops detailed below and an online survey.
Community Workshops:
- Tuesday, November 1, 2016 – 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 2, 2016 – 3:00p.m.
Location: Coastal Georgia Center, Cypress Banquet Room (# 115), 305 Fahm Street
These community workshops are open to the general public and will provide residents of Savannah an opportunity to have their input incorporated into the City’s Assessment.
