City presents data-driven, community-led approach to Vision Zero traffic safety plan
The overarching goal of Vision Zero is to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries in Savannah by creating safer streets for everyone on the road. City Council approved the Vision Zero resolution on Feb. 24, 2022 and directed staff to develop an action plan for the initiative within one year.

Additional glass recycling drop-off sites now available
The City of Savannah’s Sanitation Department and its partner, The Upcycling Company, has successfully rolled out four new drop-off sites for glass-only recycling. These drop-off sites are additional to the Bacon Park Transfer Station and Dean Forest Landfill that previously rolled out Wednesday, Jan. 11, providing six available containers throughout the community.

Following a robust national search and comprehensive evaluation process, City Manager Joseph A. Melder is appointing Lenny Gunther as Savannah’s Police Chief. Chief Gunther had served as interim Police Chief since July 29, 2022.
