The Essential Arts Project is a youth art exhibition offering a glimpse into the six-session program that taught the importance of integrating the arts into our everyday lives. Essential Arts empowered youths with tools that give them agency and the ability to use their voices productively.
This exhibition showcases the talents of young artists from Safe Shelter and Park Place Outreach and includes abstract paintings, printmaking, and papermaking projects. Participants were asked to fully express their thoughts and feelings in their artwork, using a different theme for each project.
The program was led by Savanah Cultural Arts Center staff and local performance artists. It was funded by the Georgia Council for the Arts. The artwork is currently on display in the Visual Arts Wing of the Savannah Cultural Arts Center at 201 Montgomery St. All artwork can be viewed digitally below.
