Informational Instructions for Recorder’s Court Traffic Pleas via email

**Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Recorder’s Court will be allowing Traffic Pleas via email, for certain violations only.**


  • Expired Driver license (6 months or less) OCGA 40-5-32 - Fine & Fees ($60.48)
  • Failure to possess a valid vehicle registration OCGA 40-2-8(b) – Fine & Fees ($176.50)
  • Failure to display driver’s license OCGA 40-5-29(b)- Fine & Fees ($60.48)
  • No license on person OCGA 40-5-29 – Fine & Fees ($60.48)
  • Failure to update address or name on driver’s license OCGA 40-5-33- Fine & Fees ($60.48)
  • Expired tag/decal OCGA 40-2-8.1 – Fine & Fees ($74.13)


  • Pay at the cashier’s office
  • Call the office at 652-7425 and tell the clerk you would like to pay online and they will make it payable in the system so you can pay by credit card online
  • Submit a money order or cashier’s check along with a copy of your citation to Recorder’s Court, 133 Montgomery Street, Savannah, GA 31401

If you received a citation for the following violation and are able to provide proof that the item was valid at the time the citation was issued and was not issued after the stop, you are eligible to plea via email with proof and payment in full for the listed violation offense. Those violations are as follows:

  • No proof of insurance on person/ No insurance OCGA 40-6-10 – (At the Judge’s discretion)  

Recorder’s Court will also extend an offer to allow defendants to enter a plea of guilty and request an option to receive no points or plea Nolo Contendere for a violation. In order to receive no points or Nolo Contendere you must first qualify.  Individuals going up to and including 20 miles per hour over the speed limit can request no points on their license. The defendant’s driving record would be pulled and reviewed by the judge to determine if the defendant is eligible. 

This plea would be determined in 7 to 10 business days from the date received by the Courts. After the decision is made by the judge the defendant would then be notified via email of the decision and the defendant has 10 days from that date to make payment or set up a payment plan (which will be an additional $35) with the Courts.  If there are any additional questions or concerns, please include them in the email along with your request to the Courts
