Historic Preservation Commission

Description:
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) was established in accordance with O.C.G.A. §44-10-21 (“Georgia Historic Preservation Act”), as amended.  The HPC is the review authority for all local historic districts, properties in the City of Savannah, and conservation districts to include the Victorian Historic Overlay District, Cuyler-Brownville Historic Overlay District, Streetcar Historic Overlay District, Ardsley Park-Chatham Crescent Conservation Overlay District, Ardmore Conservation Overlay District, and Daffin Park and Parkside Neighborhood Conservation District (Sec. 7.9, Sec. 7.10, Sec. 7.11, and Sec. 7.15).  This HPC does not have any review authority over the Savannah Downtown Historic Overlay District.

Membership/Appointment:
Nine members appointed by the Mayor and Aldermen.

Min. Requirements:
Members shall be City residents and must demonstrate a special interest in the preservation of historic resources

Term:
Members of the HPC shall serve for a term of three (3) years and shall be eligible for reappointment for an additional term of three years.
