Arena Subcommittees
The City formed six advisory subcommittees to assist in this early phase of the arena project. Each subcommittee consisted of representatives from the local community as well as City staff members. Subcommittees met regularly to discuss and research topics related to their area of focus. Recommendations in each area were made to the City by the subcommittees at the end of this process. Business Development
Subcommittee will research and provide recommendations on topics including the following:
- Potential for small business opportunities
- Consider the impact of this development on existing enterprises
- View the potential for new entrepreneurial opportunities
- Consider how local residents might economically benefit as a result of the arena development
- Potential for neighborhood economic development
- General marketing opportunities

Community Education & Engagement
Subcommittee researched and provided recommendations on topics including the following:
- Methods for communicating with neighboring communities
- Development of community and neighborhood links
- Public venues to keep neighborhoods informed about the various phases of the arena development
- Address the needs of the communities directly impacted by the new development
- Connectivity with museums, hotels, SCAD, major tourist attractions

Greenway Planning
Subcommittee will research and provide recommendations on topics including the following:
- Beautification initiatives to enhance the area
- Nature trail development
- Pedestrian walk paths
- Recreational and cultural use of the Canal
- Lighting
- Land use
- Noise

Mobility & Transportation
Subcommittee will research and provide recommendations on topics including the following:
- Pedestrian walkways
- Bicycle paths
- Various forms of public transportation
- Accessibility to major transportation routes, I-16, I-516 et al
- Parking
- Traffic
- Land use
Programming Potential
Subcommittee will research and provide recommendations on topics including the following:
- Events and activities for the arena
- Potential for selling suites and reserved space
- Consider how the facility might be of benefit to major community users
- Potential for large conventions that doesn’t compete with existing venues in the community
- Consider sporting events that might be appropriate for the arena and the community

Utilization of Current Civic Center
Subcommittee will research and provide recommendations on topics including the following:
- Analysis of the civic center in relationship to a proposed arena
- If the center is razed, consider what should be the continued use of the land
- Reconfiguration of the Center
- Consider the economic impact of any decision concerning the current Civic Center
