Call for Art Camp Instructors

Are you an instructor of clay, fibers, mixed media, painting & drawing, dance, chorus, creative writing, theater, and/or improve and available to teach one or two weeks this summer? If so, we have some opportunities available!

Summer Art Camp will take place on the following dates this year:

June 10-15 (Visual Arts session 1)
July 8-12 (Performing Arts) 
July 15-19 (Visual Arts session 2) 

The City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Resources is now accepting resumes for creative arts instructors of various mediums to teach full-day Summer Arts Camp! Summer Camp is a week long, Monday through Friday, and will run on the above dates at the Savannah Cultural Arts Center, located at 201 Montgomery Street. Children ages 6 to 12 can participate in each week-long camp and take lessons in drawing, painting, ceramics, jewelry, fibers, mixed media, puppetry, creative writing, acting, singing and dancing within age-appropriate group settings.

Instructors at the full day Art Camp work with children ages 6-12, and teen junior camp counselors ages 14-18. The hours are 9:00am - 4:30pm. Each week, Monday through Thursday, instructors will teach five classes a day, one hour per group, with a maximum of 10 children per group. On Friday, instructors will meet with each group for 30 minutes. Students will take home all of their artwork at the end of camp on Friday afternoons. Instructors may plan multiple projects per week. Qualified instructors must submit to a background check. This is a contracted weekly position with no employment benefits.

Call for Junior Camp Counselors
Jr. Counselors at the City of Savannah’s Department of Cultural Resources full day Art Camp will work with children ages 6-12 in a volunteer role. The hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities include assisting teachers with projects, supervising campers, and assisting the Camp Director with overall camp structure. All applicants must submit a short essay on the areas of art they are interested in working in and why. Areas we offer include fibers, ceramics, theater, music, dance, gallery prepping, jewelry, glass, drawing, mixed media, and painting. Please include a list of any art related classes you have taken.
