Park & Tree
The Park and Tree Department has a unique place within the history of Savannah's city government. The roots of the department extend back to 1896, with the establishment of the Park and Tree Commission. Prior to that, our heritage extends back to the establishment of the Colony of Georgia and the City of Savannah by James Oglethorpe in 1733.

The Park & Tree Department is responsible for the care and maintenance of Savannah’s “crown jewels”, her historical squares, the riverfront, public monuments, and fountains, City and neighborhood entrances and medians, neighborhood passive parks and all trees on public property.  Park & Tree is subdivided into a Parks Services Division and an Urban Forestry Division.  The Department also administers the Landscape and Tree Ordinance on commercial developments.

To request service in any public park or any public tree, please dial 311 or use the online request form.
