Now Registering for Spring 2017 Workshops and Classes
All classes are held at the Cultural Affairs facility located at 9 West Henry Street
(2 blocks south of Forsyth Park between Bull and Whitaker Streets)

Expressive Watercolors Workshop
 - NEW!
Instructor: Napoleon Wilkerson
Ages 12+, 15 spaces available
Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 10am – 1pm 

See the different possibilities for working in watercolor and learn to paint a 9” x 12” portrait using watercolors in an expressive way. This expressive color method is about painting intuitively with spontaneous feeling and emotion. Students are required to bring with them: 1-2 Portraits (photographs) of someone they would like to paint during this workshop.

$35/$30 city residents, deadline to register is 5pm on Thursday, May 11, 2017.

Performance Arts

Intro to Improv: Adults Class (6 Weeks) CLOSED
Instructor: John Brennan
Ages 18+
Tuesdays, April 4 – May 9, 6:00pm – 7:30pm
This six-week class introduces Savannah’s Improv Company (SiC) method to create improvised scenes based on audience suggestions. Students in “Intro to Improv” will participate in group games and exercises that help everyone remember how to play. The focus will be on having fun and learning how to start an improv scene. As a bonus, you’ll get to perform for friends and family during a recital after the six-week course concludes.
$90/$75 city residents


Painting and Drawing

Beginners Abstract Painting (6 Weeks)
Instructor: Heather MacRae
Ages: 17+
Fridays, April 7 – May 12, 9:30am – 12:30pm
During this six-week course, students will look at still-life, landscapes, human forms, lines and shapes and learn how to use color, gesture, and mark-making techniques to break down, deconstruct visual subjects and reconstruct those forms onto canvas as two-dimensional art works.
$105/$90 city residents


Ceramics

Pottery with Purpose (6 Weeks) NEW! CLOSED
Instructor: Clair Buckner
Ages 17+
Tuesdays, April 4 – May 9, 9:30am – 12:30pm
This ceramic wheel class will focus on making durable, environmentally friendly alternatives for plastic kitchen items, such as butter keepers, berry bowls and counter top composters. Come clay with us! Prior wheel experience is necessary.
$165/$145 city residents

All Speeds Wheel – Beginner to Intermediate (6 Weeks) CLOSED
Instructor: Shawn Patrick PM
Ages 17+
Tuesdays, April 4 – May 9, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
In this class you will learn how to use basic tools and technics to shape clay into functional forms on the pottery wheel. Students will work on refining their skills as they work at their own pace and receive individual attention.
$165/$145 city residents

Open Studio with Dave (6 Weeks) CLOSED
Instructor: Dave Peterson
Ages 17+
Thursdays, April 6 – May 11, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
The open studio session allows students time to practice skills learned in previous clay classes. This is not an instructional class. This session is open to students who have completed a ceramics class in our facility.
$165/$145 city residents

Open Studio with Clair (6 Weeks) CLOSED
Instructor: Clair Buckner
Ages 17+
Wednesdays, April 5 – May 10, 9:30am – 12:30pm
OR
Fridays, April 7 – May 12, 9:30am – 12:30pm
The open studio session allows students time to practice skills learned in previous clay classes. This is not an instructional class. This six session studio time offers the freedom to come one or two times a week. Additional sessions can be purchased as needed. This session is open to students who have completed a ceramics class in our facility.
$165/$145 city residents

$35 per additional session and 25# clay
$25 per additional session (3 hours)
