Date Night Dance for Adults: NEW!
Instructor: Kate LeGrand
Ages: 17+
Thursday, November 2, 6:00pm – 8:00pm
You don't have to memorize a routine to look fantastic on the dance floor, but it can help to learn the basics! Bring a partner to learn the essentials of the waltz, salsa, and freestyling suitable for any occasion. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. No previous dance experience is required. Night is limited to 8 couples.

Beginners Jewelry Making for Adults – NEW!
Instructor: Odessa Lovett
Ages: 17+
Friday, November 3, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Black, red, and Georgia jewelry! Learn about the basics of jewelry making and beading as you create your own necklace and a pair of earrings. This entry level design workshop will consist of stringing black and red gemstones in a repeated pattern on monofilament. Vertically arranged black and red gemstone earrings will match the necklace in this ensemble. Class is limited to 10 students.

Date Night Dirt – Couples Clay

Bring a buddy and get muddy! Join us for a night of fun and creativity exploring clay in a supportive environment. This night is for couples and is open to all skill levels. We will work on the wheel and see what we get! The fee includes all materials, glaze, and firing of one piece per person. Pieces will be available to pick up 2-3weeks after the class. Night is limited to 5 couples.
$40/couple

Parent & Child Nightlight Glass Fusing Workshop NEW!
Instructor: Stephanie VanGeel
Ages 5+
Saturday, December 2, 10:00am – 1:00pm
As the nights get longer, scare away the monsters with a nightlight that you and your youngster created together. Come join the fun and learn how to crush, cut, and melt glass into your own unique design. We will be using real glass to make a fused glass nightlight. Because we are using glass, children must be over the age of 5 to participate and an adult must be present. Please note: projects will be available for pick up at a later date due to the kiln firing process. Workshop is limited to 10 students total.

Parent & Child Holiday Clay Workshop - Handbuilding

Saturday, December 2, 10:00am – 12:00pm
Come join us for a parent and child holiday workshop! Let your imagination run wild and make a one of a kind piece of art to keep forever. Students will learn basic hand building, sculpting and decorating techniques. Workshop is limited to 10 students total.

Soap Making Workshop
Instructor: Crystal Travaille
Ages 17+
Saturday, December 9, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Clean fun! Learn to make your own soap! This three hour workshop is an introduction to soap-making using the cold process method. There will be a two batch demo with an overview of natural and essential oils, textures, and molds. Each participant will go home with two bars of soap and plenty of information. Please wear closed toed shoes. Workshop is limited to 10 students.

Holiday Glass Fusing Workshop NEW!
Instructor: Stephanie VanGeel
Ages 17+
Saturday, December 9, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Come nourish your creative holiday spirit and join us for this fused glass ornament class. Create your own ornaments with layers of vibrant, luminous glass. Create sparkling holiday ornaments that will make your home, windows, or tree dazzle with art pieces that will last a lifetime. One person will be able to make 2 ornaments. Finished work is available the next week for pick up. These glass ornaments make great gifts. Come try it with a friend or make a new family tradition. Workshop is limited to 10 students total.

Sewing on the Machine Open Studio NEW!

Do you have pants that need hemming, a hole in a seam, or your own sewing project you’re stuck on? Use this class time to work on your own projects with professional guidance. Previous sewing machine experience required. Workshop is limited to 5 students total.

Ceramics

Even Bigger and Better Wheel – Advanced (6 Weeks) NEW!
Instructor: Clair Buckner
Ages: 17+
Tuesdays, October 31 – December 12, 9:30am – 12:30pm
This class will concentrate on expanding and refining throwing skills. Focus will be on making better bowls, comfy cups, lidded vessels and pouring vessels. Teapots and two part forms will also be explored. Presentations and discussion will help students understand form and function. Prior wheel experience is necessary. Class is limited to 10 students.

All Speeds Wheel – Intermediate (6 Weeks)
Instructor: Shawn Patrick
Ages: 17+
Tuesdays, October 31 – December 12, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
In this class you will learn how to use basic tools and technics to shape clay into functional forms on the pottery wheel. Students will work on refining their skills as they work at their own pace and receive individual attention. Class is limited to 10 students.

Intro to Raku
Instructor: Clair Buckner
Ages 17+
Thursdays, November 2 – December 14, 9:30am – 12:30pm
This ancient Japanese ceramic firing technique in which 1800° glowing red hot works are removed from the kiln and placed into a reduction chamber filled with combustibles is sure to inflame and inspire. This is an advanced techniques class focusing on alternative firing methods. We will explore traditional Raku as well as horsehair and saggar firing. Students will make their own pots to experiment on using different clay bodies. Ceramics experience is required. The glaze and firing fees are $10 for your bisque pot {under 8 inches in any direction} and $20 for studio pots.

Beginners Wheel (6 Weeks)

Ages: 17+
Thursdays, November 2 – December 14, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
This introductory class will teach you the basics of throwing clay on the potter’s wheel. Trimming and decorative techniques will be taught to give each vessel its own flair. Students will work at their own pace and receive individual attention. Class is limited to 10 students.

Open Studio (6 Weeks)

Wednesdays, November 1 – December 13, 9:30am – 12:30pm

The open studio session allows students time to practice skills learned in previous clay classes. This is not an instructional class. This 6 session studio time offers the freedom to come one or two times a week. Additional sessions can be purchased as needed. This session is open to students who have completed a ceramics class in our facility.

After Dark with Dave (4 Weeks)

Wednesdays, November 8 – December 6, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
The 4 week open studio session allows students time to practice skills learned in previous clay classes. This is not an instructional class. This 6 session studio time offers the freedom to come one or two times a week. Additional sessions can be purchased as needed. This session is open to students who have completed a ceramics class in our facility.

Fibers

Sew Easy! Beginners Sewing on a Machine (4 Weeks) NEW!
Instructor: Jennifer Farago
Ages: 17+
Thursdays, November 2 – 16, 6:00pm – 9:00pm and Saturday, December 2, 10:00am – 1:00pm
Learn skills that will last you a lifetime! Come learn how to sew on a sewing machine during this 4-week introductory course. You’ll explore the parts of the machine, different stitches and processes, as well as how to care for and repair your own home sewing machine. During this course, you will complete 4 unique sewing projects and takeaway fundamental, useful knowledge for your future fiber works!
$110/$90 city residents


Glass

Found Object: Intermediate Stained Glass (6 Weeks)
Instructor: Kristin Fulford
Ages: 17+
Thursdays, November 2 – December 14, 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Design a one of a kind stained glass piece incorporating your very own found object(s). This six-week class will teach students the basics of stained glass techniques and how to design a work of art around a treasured keepsake. Students will have a finished stained glass piece at the end of the session. Class is limited to 8 students.

Metalsmithing and Jewelry

Beginners Jewelry – Intro to Metalsmithing (6 Weeks)
Instructor: Jessica Anderson
Ages: 17+
Tuesdays, October 31 – December 12, 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Join this introductory course to metalsmithing! The 6-week course will introduce basic tools and techniques used by jewelers. Students will learn basic patina, sawing, stamping, hammering, and soldering skills to create several unique pieces of wearable jewelry. Class is limited to 10 students.
$165/$145 city residents

Teen Jewelry Making (6 Weeks) NEW!
Instructor: Jessica Anderson
Ages: 13-17
Tuesdays, October 31 – December 12, 3:30pm – 5:00pm
This 6-week afterschool class will teach young adults of all skill levels awesome methods to create wearable works of art. Students will explore basic jewelry making techniques like wire wrapping, enameling, kumihimo, beading, and macramé. Students will complete the session with 6 pieces of jewelry art. Class is limited to 10 students.
$90/$75 city resident

Open Studio (6 Weeks)
Studio Technician: Tana Fileccia-Flagg
Ages: 17+
Wednesdays, November 1 – December 13, 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Open Studio in metalsmithing and jewelry allows participants time to practice skills learned in previous classes, access to specific materials, tools and equipment, as well as work on personal pieces independently. The fee includes a supply packet. The studio technician will be on hand to oversee students’ use of tools and equipment. Please note this is not an instructional class. This session is open to students who have completed a metalsmithing class in our facility. Class is limited to 10 students.

Painting and Drawing

Afterschool Drawing Fundamentals for Youth (6 Weeks)
Instructor: Brian Woods
Ages: 6-12
Wednesdays, November 1 – December 13, 4:00pm – 5:30pm
This class will focus primarily on foundational drawing techniques. Students will learn the fundamental principle of using basic shapes to construct images. Students will explore drawing with stylization, movement (gesture drawing), and how to develop details. As students learn and discover their own shape language from the classes, they will be able to use the basic drawing principles taught during the class to build their future drawing skills.

Afterschool Portfolio Prep for Youth (6 Weeks) NEW!
Instructor: Heather Brancato
Ages: 8-14
Thursdays, November 2 – December 14, 4:00 – 5:30pm
Build an eye catching artist portfolio to meet your individual needs! The class will consist of creating artworks based on the foundations of the Visual Arts. Illustrations from real life, original paintings, and an array of techniques will emphasize your uniqueness and self- expression. If you are struggling with certain materials or concepts, critiques during the art making process will help guide and improve the final product. The culmination of these pieces will be structured into an artist portfolio to present to future schools or for personal assessment.
