ROUSAKIS RIVERFRONT PLAZA
DOCKING ACCOMMODATIONS AND REGULATIONS


The following information pertains to John P. Rousakis Riverfront Plaza docking facilities, owned by the City of Savannah and managed by the Mobility & Parking Services Department.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Docking space is available in three areas of Rousakis Riverfront Plaza:

Dock 1 is located on the western end of the plaza up-river from the Hyatt Hotel. The pier has vertical stationary pilings. It can accommodate vessels with a minimum length of 35 feet and a maximum overall length of 250 feet. Utility services are not available at this time.

Dock 2 is the area of the bulkhead beginning just east of the tour boat dock behind City Hall and extending eastward to Abercorn Ramp. See the Dock 2 Policy for guidelines specific to this dock..

Dock 3, which has vertical stationary pilings and cleats, can accommodate any vessel up to about 250 feet which does not need a floating pier. Utility services are not available at this time

The piers are located on a commercial shipping channel. The tide variation is 6 to 8 feet. The area has a mean low draft varying from 8 to 14 feet, with an irregular silt and mud bottom.

REGULATIONS

  1. All vessels using a City dock for more than three hours must be registered with the Mobility & Parking Services Department, located at the Bryan Street Parking Garage, 100 East Bryan Street, Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm, call (912) 651-3634; Fax (912) 525-1625. After 5pm, weekends and holidays, call (912) 651-6477, control booth, attendant is on duty 24/7 to collect fees.
  2. Reservations may be made for Dock 1 and Dock 3 up to one year in advance. Fees are to be paid to the Mobility &Parking Services Department upon arrival of the vessel, or by mail if prior arrangements have been made
    No reservations are accepted for Dock 2; use is first-come, first-served, with registration required for more than three hours. Fees are to be paid to the City Mobility & Parking Services Department.
  3. Use and reserving of docking facilities is at the discretion of the City of Savannah and may be denied or terminated at any time.
  4. All vessels using the Riverfront Plaza Dock will be governed by the Savannah Port Authority's Regulations for the Port District of Savannah.
  5. The owner/operator shall be fully responsible for his/her vessel and guests at all times.
  6. The City of Savannah shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or injury of any kind to person or property arising from the use of the docking facilities or services.
  7. Boat toilets shall not be used while boat is docked, unless the boat is equipped with an operating holding tank, so that no effluent is discharged into the Savannah River.
  8. All refuse scheduled for City collection is to be securely bagged and stowed on board until City pick-up is made.

DOCKING FEES

Rates are based on extreme vessel length, and will be computed per 24 hour period. Half-day rates will be charged for vessels docked for less than 12 hours. Vessels docked 12 hours or more will be charged the full 24 hour rate.

commercial vessels, no tugs or barges:

Under 125 feet in overall length $100.00 per arrival, plus $1.00 per linear
and under 250 gross tons foot per day or portion thereof

125 feet and over in overall length $200.00 per arrival, plus $1.00 per linear
or 250 gross tons and over foot per day or portion thereof

Local Tour Boat Service - $50.00 per load/unload cycle, no docking
Passenger loading/unloading

UTILITY SERVICE FEES

Service Rate

Utility services are not available at this time.
Boaters are required to dispose of all trash properly.

INDEMNIFICATION

As consideration for lease of docking space, the Lessee agrees that the City of Savannah, collectively or individually, its agents and employees shall not be liable for any damage, loss, destruction, or deterioration of or to any boat using said docking space, or any article or thing attached to or left on said boat, or the contents thereof, from any cause whatsoever. The Lessee also agrees that the City of Savannah, collectively or individually, its agents and employees shall not be liable for any personal injuries sustained by the Lessee, the Lessee's servants, employees, and guests, as a result of or in connection with the performance of any of the services provided by the City of Savannah, whether such injuries be due to the negligence of the City of Savannah collectively or individually, its agents or employees or otherwise. The Lessee agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Savannah, collectively or individually, its agents and employees from any loss, damage, or expense incurred by reason of any damage, loss, destruction, or deterioration caused by said Lessee, and any personal injuries sustained by the Lessee and the Lessee’s servants, employees, and guests.
