Exemptions
By resolution on December 15, 1988, City council requested and authorized the Chatham County Assessor to receive enrollment applications and grant property tax exemptions for the City of Savannah.
· All exemptions must be filed with the Assessors Office, Fifth Floor Chatham County Judicial Courthouse, 133 Montgomery Street, Room 503, between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday through Friday.
· Time for filing for 2007: March 2, 2006 – March1, 2007.
· Failure to file within the allocated time constitutes a waiver of exemption for that year. Georgia law does not provide for extension of time for filing for whatever reason.
· All exemptions, once approved, are automatically renewed each year until eligibility changes.
