Raku Fridays - November 20 & December 11
If you missed it in October, here's a second chance - come learn about the firing technique Raku - the ancient Japanese technique in which 2000 degree glowing red hot works are removed from the kiln and placed into a fiery vessel filled with combustibles - it's sure to inflame and inspire! Ceramics specialist Matt Maggioni will lead multiple firings each of the Fridays, starting at 1 p.m. in the ceramics studio parking lot at 9 W. Henry Street. Stop by and observe the process, or glaze and fire a work or two. (Pieces will be available for those who want to participate.) Ceramic artists may also bring personal bisque fired works to glaze and fire. $10 firing fee; no fee to observe. Space is limited - participants are limited to 1 large work or two small works.
