| All new customers to City of Savannah water, sanitary sewer, and/or refuse services, or previous customers who have transferred to a new address, should contact the City of Savannah Utility Services Department to set up an account in your name. Even if your service is already accessible (i.e. your water is already turned on), you should contact Utility Services to set up a new account for you. Water meters will be read and charges/fees will be billed bimonthly (once for every two month period). To turn on service, cut off service, or transfer service to another address come to the basement of the Broughton Municipal Building at 132 E Broughton St or call (912) 651-6460 (see below for more information).
TURN ON SERVICE:
If you LEASE or RENT you will need to come in and speak to a Customer Service representative. Bring with you a copy of your Lease, a picture ID, and a deposit of $75.00 (deposit may be more for larger meters).
If you are a HOMEOWNER you can call a Customer Service representative at (912) 651-6460 to set up your new account. You will need to know the name of your closing attorney and the closing date.
TRANSFER SERVICE:
If you are moving from one City address (or account) to another City address (or account), you can call a Customer Service representative at (912) 651-6460 to set up your new account. Your current account (the account/address from which you are moving) must be paid before transferring to another account.
CUT OFF SERVICE:
To stop service to an account, call a Customer Service representative at (912) 651-6460. You will need to know the Social Security Number of the person whose name is on the account for which service is being stopped. You will also need a forwarding address for the final bill or deposit refund, if any.
