Cemeteries, places of worship, and funeral homes are not exempt from criminal predators seeking to take advantage of unsuspecting persons. Savannah’s municipal cemeteries are patrolled by cemetery staff, contracted security providers, and the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department. In addition, some areas are monitored by surveillance cameras. Visitors to the cemeteries are advised to lock their vehicles, keep valuables out of sight, and report any suspicious activities to the police. The same common sense used in a mall parking lot should be exercised everywhere, even in cemeteries.
