Greenwich Park

A 3 ½ acre section of Greenwich Cemetery has been designated as a passive park or meditation area for cemetery visitors. Greenwich Park has not yet been developed, but will serve as a central feature for future cemetery sections yet to be developed. The park surrounds a 1/2 acre artificial tidal pond which was created on the northeastern corner of Greenwich Estate, bordering the marsh across from Causton Bluff on the Saint Augustine Creek, now the Wilmington River. The park will eventually be landscaped with a paved pedestrian path around the pond and a pedestrian bridge across the pond.

The artificial pond was once fed by an open drainage ditch or fresh water spring and may have been used for the exotic plant collections or dairy cattle of the previous owners of Greenwich Plantation.
