Cemetery Sidewalk Improvements

Public walkways in Bonaventure Cemetery were paved after the purchase by the City of Savannah in 1907. The walkways were popular for the visitors who frequented the cemeteries prior to the popularity of automobiles. The walkways utilize some of the same space as 250-year old live oak trees and tree-sidewalk conflicts often result in cracks and/or tripping hazards. There are currently more than 2,000 linear feet of walkway in need of repairs before such hazardous conditions develop. Two wheelchair ramps are also required.
