The City of Savannah's Water and Sewer Bureau is a very important part of the region's growth and vitality. It is a municipal, government-based, organization serving the residents, businesses, and visitors of the City as well as several unincorporated areas of Chatham County, Georgia. All of its activities are operated in accordance with applicable local, state and federal regulations.

Water & Sewer Director Office
The Water and Sewer Director Office is committed to remaining a good steward of local water and sanitary sewer facilities and responsibly administering quality services. You may click on any of the Water and Sewer activities shown for more information.

Environmental Affairs Office
The Environmental Affairs Office advises the various City bureaus regarding environmental compliance and regulatory issues. The Office is responsible to advocate for, and protect, the interests of the city of Savannah with respect to federal, state, and local environmental issues. The Environmental Affairs Office provides educational materials and training to the public concerning natural resource conservation, primarily water conservation, and other environmental topics.

Conveyance & Distribution
The Conveyance and Distribution Department is made up of three activities. They are: Water Distribution, Sanitary Sewer Maintenance and Lift Station Maintenance. Water Distribution is responsible for the safe transportation and provision of potable water. Sewer Maintenance administers the collection and transportation of sewage to area wastewater treatment plants. Lift Station Maintenance is charged with the transfer of waste water by pumping to higher level collector lines as required to maintain an uninterrupted flow.

Supply & Treatment
Water Supply and Treatment has provided the City of Savannah and much of Chatham County with a safe dependable water supply for many years. Meeting the needs of area growth, development and fire-fighting demands is the department's focus.

Planning & Engineering
Water and Sewer Planning and Engineering is the enforcement agency for Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Delegation Authority to review and approve all water and sanitary sewer construction plans and specifications. This is to ensure compliance with federal, state and local rules, regulations and ordinances.

Water Quality Control
The Water Quality Control Department is charged to protect the environment and health of citizens through waste water treatment. It must adapt to new, ever tightening state and federal regulations. It also continues to effectively process and treat the community's waste water.

The City's Utility Services Division provides customer service for revenue billing, collection, and regulatory activities.
