All classes are held at the Arts, Culture & Historical Resources facility located at 9 West Henry Street.

Registration Deadline: Class registrations are due at noon the Thursday before the class begins.
                                       Workshop registrations due at noon the Monday before the workshop.

Drop-In Sessions

Toddler Time Drop-In
Instructor: Courtney Osterhage
Ages: 2-4
Thursdays, August 2 - 30, 11:00am - 11:40am

Join us for an interactive learning experience designed for parents or caregivers and toddlers. We will introduce your child to various materials including clay, glue, beads, and buttons fabric. Using these supplies, your child will explore printing, painting, sculpting, cutting and gluing. Some of the projects will be collaborative between adult and child but most will be watching what your child can do. An adult must be present to interact with the child. No registration is required to attend, however the session is limited to 12 pairs.
$20/ per pair

 

Workshops

Date Night Dirt - Couples Clay
Instructor: Clair Buckner
Ages: 17+
Friday, August 24, 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Bring a buddy and get muddy! Join us for a night of fun and creativity exploring clay in a supportive environment. This night is for couples and is open to all skill levels. We will work on the wheel and see what we get!  The fee includes all materials, glaze, and firing of one piece per person. Pieces will be available to pick up 2-3 weeks after the class. Workshop is limited to 5 couples.
$40/couple

Intro to Bead Weaving: Peyote Stitch
Instructor: Connie Woods
Ages: 17+
Monday, August 6, 6:00pm - 8:30pm

In this 2.5 hour workshop, students will work with needle and thread to learn one of the most basic bead weaving stitches. In addition to learning peyote stitch, students will learn about seed bead shapes, sizes, etc.; learn about beading needles and thread; learn to read a peyote stitch pattern and learn to add thread to a project. Each student will make a bracelet and the workshop is limited to 8 students.

Macramé Wall Hanging
Instructor: Connie Woods
Ages: 17+
Monday, August 23, 11:30am - 2:30pm

Macramé home accessories are the latest trend in home décor and can be found in many retailers. Why buy one when you can make your own with some rope and a little imagination? This 3 hour workshop will teach you some of the basic knots used in most macramé projects. Each student will complete a small wall hanging in class (12” W x ~19” L). This workshop is limited to 10 students.

Rivoli Pendant Necklace
Instructor: Connie Woods
Ages: 17+
Wednesday, September 5, 11:30am - 2:30pm

Students will learn how to make a setting for a Swarovski crystal with no hole. Each participant will make a pendant that will then be hung from a chain or cord. Experience with even-count peyote stitch is required to participate in this workshop which is limited to 8 students.
$75/65 city residents

4 Week Classes

DIY Sketchbook (4 Weeks)
Instructor: Courtney Osterhage
Ages 13-17
Tuesdays, August 7 – 28, 6:00pm -7:20pm

Throughout this 4 week workshop, students will create an interactive sketchbook. We will use recycled cardboard and paper to make the book and bind the edges. Once the book is finished, students will be introduced to a variety of techniques to make the book interactive. At the end, each child will be given a chance to design their cover and begin sketching. This class is limited to 15 students.
$50 per student

6 Week Classes

All Speeds Wheel Class (6 Weeks)
Instructor: Clair Buckner
Ages 17+
Tuesdays, August 7 – September 11, 9:30am -12:30pm

In this class you will learn how to use basic tools and techniques to shape clay into functional forms on the pottery wheel. Students will work on refining their skills as they work at their own pace and receive individual attention. Class is limited to 10 students.
$165/$145 city residents

Ages 17+

Open Studio (6 Weeks)

Wednesdays, August 8 – September 12, 9:30am – 12:30pm

Wednesdays, August 8 – September 12, 1:30pm – 4:30pm

The open studio session allows students time to practice skills learned in previous clay classes. This is not an instructional class. This 6 session studio time offers the freedom to come one or two times a week. Additional sessions can be purchased as needed. This session is open to students who have completed a ceramics class in our facility.
$165/$145 city residents
$35 per additional session and 25# clay
$25 per additional session (3 hours)
